Mackenzie Transformed by the Rain: His Best Superbike Result Comes at Phillip Island

The Scottish rider shines on the wet track at Phillip Island and secures an excellent result in Superbike Race 2.

Rain is a factor that can shuffle the cards and give opportunities to those who might otherwise struggle in dry conditions. One of the SBK riders who was certainly delighted to see a wet race was Tarran Mackenzie, who had already proven in the past to be a skilled interpreter of those conditions — and at Phillip Island he confirmed it once again. The fourth place he secured in Race 2 is his best result since competing in the category.

The Optical Express MGM Racing team had risked not being on the 2026 WorldSBK grid at all — team owner Michael Galinski had seriously considered withdrawing — and the result achieved in Australia generated enormous satisfaction in the garage. The 2021 BSB champion made the most of his opportunity.
